rugs are actually a type of Karbagh rugs. The singular motif
decorating the field in a repeated pattern comes from the
Karabagh region. Whether it is meant to represent stylized
floral or animal shapes it is hard to say. There is a definite
flavor of scorpions or crustacean about it.
Some of these rugs date quite
early.
