Tibetan

Tibetans have always traveled widely and adapted design elements from other cultures. The strongest influences have come from the south and east, Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist, but also from the west Asia. Since the Dali Lama fled to India in 1959, many Tibetan weavers have immigrated to Nepal, were they have set up carpet workshops.

Majority of older Tibetan rugs left are remnants of monastery decorations and seat covers.
